Intervention 1


All students will be provided teacher directed instruction in reading comprehension strategies.

Comprehension Strategies for Intervention 1

1st Quarter:
      Making Connections - What does this book remind you of?
      Questioning - My question is . . . ?

2nd Quarter:
      Visualizing - Create a picture in you mind.
      Inferring - How do you think the character feels?

3rd Quarter:
      Determining Importance - What was the problem in the story
                                              and how was it solved?
      Synthesizing - How was your thinking changed by reading the
                            piece?

Intervention 2
 
All students will be given large amounts of time for text reading.

Activities for Intervention 2

Students will read for pleasure at least 15 minutes per day.   

Reading Buddies twice per month
