The Gifted Education Program (G. E. Program) at Schweinfurt
Elementary School operates within the framework of the DoDEA Gifted Education
regulations. Services and eligibility
are determined by a Gifted Education Committee. Teachers, parents, and students may recommend candidates to be
considered for the G. E. Program.
The Gifted Education Committee uses transfer records,
standardized test scores, work samples, teacher recommendations, and the DoDEA
rating scale to determine a student’s eligibility. The committee looks for exceptional students who show evidence of
being able to work above and beyond what is normally expected at their grade
level.
The SES G. E. Program is designed to provide differentiated
instruction including the use of pull-out and inclusive teaching practices. It is possible for a student to have grade
acceleration within subject areas and in rare cases, a double promotion. Students
are given opportunities to participate in special research projects involving
technology and in school-wide events such as the diversity program and the science
fair. The G. E. Program is attempting
to provide more opportunities at school and in the community for students who
excel in the visual and performing arts.
If you have questions about the SES G. E. Program, please
contact the Gifted Education Facilitator. Detailed information about the DoDEA
Gifted Education Program is available on the following Web sites:
