There were
many special activities all day long to celebrate Dr. Seuss
and reading. In addition, the PE teacher organized
games based on Dr. Seuss books,
and an art teacher had
students invent their own Seuss-like animals. |

Did you know that Dr. Seuss
was actually a professional cartoon artist BEFORE he became a famous
author and illustrator?SES students do! Creating artwork was
very important to Dr. Seuss throughout his life right up until he
died. In honor of his birthday, SES artists used the book One Fish,
Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish to examine the unique artistic style
of Dr. Seuss, pointing out such things as his use of the primary colors
and gentle imaginary creatures, which in this book he refers to as
"Funny Things". Young artists then stretched their own imaginations to
come up with their own make-believe "Funny Things," staying true
to the style of Dr. Seuss. "Funny things from here to there, funny
things are everywhere!" |
