Constitution Day & Citizenship Week 2007 |
|
September 17,
2007, marked the 220th anniversary of the signing of the
United States Constitution.
This page tells about some of the activities that took place at our
school to commemorate the event. |

As
part of their studies for Constitution Week, this First
Grade Class took a look at some of the symbols representing
the liberty and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution to
United States citizens. They learned about voting and chose
their favorite symbols. The winners were: 1. American
Flag; 2. Liberty Bell; 3. Statue of Liberty. |

These Second Graders memorized the SchoolHouse Rock
interpretation of the Preamble. They also made books about
our government and American symbols (bulletin board picture
below). They read the books: We the Kids, The Story of
the Statue of Liberty, America the Beautiful, and saw
the Schoolhouse Rock video of America Rock.
The teachers stated that the children now have a better
feeling for how our nation was founded and why we broke away
from England. They also are aware of the purpose of the
Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. |
