The 5 students pictured below right were recognized as having had all A's all four quarters this school year.

The SES administrators created a new award, the Wilbur Service Award, which was given for the first time at this assembly.  Students were nominated by faculty or community members for volunteering their time to help others.

The six girls pictured above all donated at least 10 inches of hair to
Locks of Love, an organization that makes  hair prosthetics for sick
children. One additional award recipient was absent.
 
These two first graders volunteered to help empty trays and recycle trash in the school cafeteria during lunch all year long.
The students pictured above were recognized for community and church service. Some of them volunteered at the thrift shop, others helped take out trash for the neighbors, and one group collected donations of blankets, pillows, and other items needed by single soldiers returning from deployment.

All students received a certificate signed by President George W. Bush, Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings,  and SES Principal Wilma Holt.  A congratulatory letter from the President Bush was also included with the award.
